GPS Potato Cyst Nematode Mapping

Why use PCN mapping?

Traditional PCN sampling methods of one sample per 2-4ha can give a distorted indication of PCN level within a field.

The smaller the sample area and the more samples taken will increase confidence in the results obtained and aid any nematicide use decision making process.

Our sampling method allows a field to be subdivided into any grid size and 15-40 samples are taken from these plots. Once the results are analysed, a colour coded map is produced (please see below example), highlighting areas of high and low PCN populations.

The grower can use this information to decide on the area by area nematicide use policy. Furthermore, field management software can be used to control nematicide application equipment, ensuring granules are only applied in areas where they are needed.

Benefits to the grower

  • Average savings of 25-50% on typical nematicide spend
  • Improve environmental profile of your crop
  • Satisfy retailer protocols
  • Accurate field size calculation
  • National contract service
